ABOUT
Tokio. creates bespoke furniture and lighting for those who refuse to compromise. Each piece is tailored to the individual — Japanese-inspired restraint meeting uncompromising technical precision, realized entirely by hand by master craftsmen. The result is timeless work, favored by discerning minds across business, academia, science and the arts.
Founded in 2011 by Gorazd Malačič, Tokio. was never conceived to court mass appeal.
It is a singular design proposition — a forward-looking vision of the smart home object, unmistakably of its time, yet composed enough to belong within interiors shaped by decades past.

A contemporary design house dedicated to technically superior, individually crafted objects — for the discerning mind with an eye on what comes next.
FOUNDER AND CREATIVE DIRECTOR
After many years working exclusively for external clients Gorazd decided to create his own platform for serious play in the field of furniture and lighting, pooling all his experience to curate a collection of signature products.
Gorazd likes to travel in the future. In the present he rarely misses a chance to show his designs at the world’s many design festivals. His design never settles for less than marvelous detailing, and always structures his trips in and around a meticulously tech-powered modus operandi. He knows his apps, enjoys his gadgets, and is known to complain over bad cocktails. He eats celery and cottage cheese in the morning, but never mixes the two in a single bite. With Gorazd it’s all very clear – very clear but never boring.

STUDIO
Asobi is a design studio established by Gorazd Malačič in 1999. The studio made its international debut in 2005 at the London Design Festival with their prototype of the spellbinding Isle Lounge sofa. In 2006, Asobi received the Design Distinction (Silver) Award in I.D. Magazine’s 52nd Annual Design Review for their fluid, futuristic Gwig LED luminaries. In 2014 Carbon Light, a high-performance modular LED suspension light, was selected as a finalist in lighting products at the Architizer Awards.
